Upgrading all Security systems at the UK's Oldest Picture Gallery
Client: Dulwich Picture Gallery
Industry: Historical
Location: London
Year: 2021
Background
Dulwich Picture Gallery is the world's first purpose-built public art gallery. It was founded in 1811 when Sir Francis Bourgeois RA bequeathed his collection of old masters "for the inspection of the public." Today, the Gallery is a vibrant cultural hub that hosts some of the UK's leading exhibitions alongside its permanent collection of Baroque masterpieces. It also stages a wide-ranging programme of public events, practical art, and community engagement.
Challenge
Following an incident, the Gallery required a comprehensive upgrade to its security systems to address vulnerabilities and provide maximum protection. The goal was to implement solutions that offered complete security while preserving the Gallery's historical ambiance and ensuring minimal disruption to its operations.
Solution
We thoroughly upgraded the Gallery's security infrastructure, incorporating the latest technology to meet the highest security standards. We installed advanced CCTV systems from Avigilon, renowned for their high-definition surveillance capabilities, and integrated Honeywell Galaxy intruder alarms to provide comprehensive detection and monitoring. To secure the grounds, we implemented perimeter protection with night-time activation, ensuring that the outer boundaries of the Gallery are monitored and safeguarded around the clock. We introduced the Assa Abloy smart control system, which enhances access management and allows precise control over who can enter various areas of the Gallery. The upgraded system now features 24/7 CCTV monitoring and on-site security personnel. Our ongoing maintenance of these systems ensures their reliability and effectiveness, contributing to the Gallery's commitment to safeguarding its historic treasures for future generations.
